Empowering the Next Generation of Nepali Women
Hero Camp exists to empower young women—to build confidence, provide critical health education, deepen their understanding of Nepal, and create space for joy, growth, and possibility.
Each year, Tsering’s Fund board members and volunteers select 20 young women from our sponsored student family and take them on a life-changing journey. For many of these girls, it may be the first time they travel beyond their village, stay in a hotel, or see parts of their own country they never imagined visiting. At Hero Camp, they are surrounded by mentors who make them feel safe, valued, and deeply supported.
Why Hero Camp Matters
Empowerment begins with knowledge.
Many of the young women who attend Hero Camp come from extremely poor and remote villages where access to education—especially about women’s health and rights—is limited or nonexistent. At camp, they learn about their bodies, menstruation, reproductive health, and how to challenge the stigma and discrimination that so often holds girls back. They learn about self-worth, equality, and their legal rights as women in Nepal.
They discover that they are intelligent, capable, and deserving of opportunity. They learn that they can support themselves financially, shape their own futures, and break the cycle of poverty for generations to come. Most importantly, they begin to recognize the strength and light within themselves—and how powerful they can be when they lift one another up.

Hero Camp is filled with unforgettable “firsts”: learning to swim, hiking to stunning locations, zip lining, boating, shopping for clothing, and simply experiencing freedom and joy in a safe environment. These moments are more than fun—they show each girl that she is capable of doing hard, exciting, and meaningful things.
