Careers Day 2026: Encouraging Dreams, Strengthening Direction
During the first week of February, a team from Tsering’s Fund traveled to four partner schools to host our second annual Careers Day Program, reaching 162 students in Classes 9 through 12.
Building on last year’s inaugural program, this year’s format combined a one-hour career presentation with private counseling sessions. Together, these conversations created space for students to ask questions, reflect on their goals, and explore the many pathways available to them after secondary school.
The purpose of Careers Day is simple but critical: to support students at a pivotal stage in their education. By sharing information about high-demand careers in Nepal, outlining education requirements and application processes, and discussing individual strengths and challenges, we aim to increase retention and empower students to continue their studies with confidence.
The results are deeply encouraging.
Of the 77 sponsored students interviewed:
100% expressed a desire to continue their education
98% reported a positive overall school experience — a remarkable increase from the previous year
While 61% identified Maths as their most challenging subject, this reflects improvement from 2025
Only 10% of students who must make an academic decision in the next six months remain undecided, demonstrating growing clarity and motivation
Across all four schools, several themes emerged. Positivity and motivation are high. Nursing and healthcare careers continue to inspire many students. Kathmandu is widely viewed as a hub of opportunity and exposure. At the same time, Maths remains a consistent barrier — highlighting an area where additional academic support could significantly strengthen outcomes.
Careers Day is more than a presentation. It is an investment in listening — to students’ aspirations, uncertainties, and hopes for the future. It is also an opportunity to strengthen communication with school leadership and identify the additional support needed to ensure each student can succeed.
This progress is only possible because of you. Your support does more than cover school fees — it creates space for guidance, mentorship, and personal attention at moments when decisions truly shape a young person’s future. Because of your generosity, students are not navigating these crossroads alone. They are supported, heard, and encouraged to aim higher. Together, we are helping transform motivation into momentum and dreams into achievable plans.
