Strengthening Health and Education in the Heart of Rural Nepal

Perched high in the Himalayan foothills, the remote village of Melamchi Ghyang may be home to only 600 residents—but its reach extends far beyond its mountain borders. Thanks to the generosity of Tsering’s Fund donors around the world, this small community has become a vital hub for education and healthcare, serving families throughout Nepal’s Helambu region.

At the heart of the village stands Melamchi Ghyang Secondary School, one of the largest schools supported by Tsering’s Fund. Here, donors help make education accessible to hundreds of children who might otherwise face a future defined by poverty, early marriage, or human trafficking. By funding school fees, supplies, and boarding costs, donors are opening doors to opportunity—and helping students dream beyond the limits of their circumstances.

From classrooms to clinics, Tsering’s Fund and its global community of supporters are building healthier, stronger futures for children and families in the Helambu region.

But Tsering’s Fund understands that education alone isn’t enough. Good health is essential to learning and to building a future of stability and hope. That’s why, with your support, the organization also invests in the Ngendha Rangjen Community Health Service Center, located right in the heart of Melamchi Ghyang.

This small but powerful health post provides medical screenings, basic clinical care, and dental services for hundreds of people each month. With the steady support of Tsering’s Fund donors, the clinic is now stocked with essential medicines and supplies—and staffed by a compassionate local nurse, Goma, who has cared for her community for more than eight years.

“I feel a real sense of joy when patients who come to me feeling unwell or needing care then get better,” Goma shared. “We’ve seen more and more people in the region coming to us, rather than simply resting at home and hoping to recover. I know we’re making a difference.”

Since 2020, Tsering’s Fund donors have provided critical resources to the health post—helping to supplement Goma’s nursing stipend, keep medicine shelves stocked, and ensure that every patient who walks through the door receives compassionate care.
