A Journey of Hope: Lovely’s Path to a Brighter Future

High in the foothills of the Himalayas, where clouds drift through the terraced hillsides and the air hums with quiet determination, 15-year-old *Prathana, whose name means “prayer”—is living proof of what hope and opportunity can do.

Prathana is one of more than 150 students at Melamchi Ghyang Secondary School, where donors to Tsering’s Fund make it possible for children from remote mountain villages to receive a quality education. Her school fees, boarding costs, and supplies are all covered by people who believe, as we do, that every child deserves a chance to dream—and to achieve.

Focused and full of potential, these young learners represent the future your generosity helps shape through Tsering’s Fund’s education programs.

Getting to school is not easy. Each term, Prathana travels six hours by bus and on foot from her home in the neighboring Chotara District, climbing nearly 2,000 feet on narrow trails. “It’s a long journey,” she said with a soft smile, “but it’s worth it.”

At home, Prathana’s parents work as farmers, growing what they can to feed their family. During school holidays, she helps them in the fields and with household chores. But her parents have always encouraged her to study hard—to build a future beyond what their small village can offer.

“In my home village, we didn’t have a school that taught in English or that had such wonderful teachers,” Lovely shared. “Here, my teachers help me learn in ways that make sense. They show me new ways to think.”

At Melamchi Ghyang, Prathana has access to computers, Wi-Fi, and a safe hostel where she can live and study. Most of all, she has a community that believes in her. Surrounded by classmates who share her dreams and teachers who inspire her, Prathanaʻs confidence grows every day.

“I care about my future,” she said. “One day, I want to be a doctor. My education is creating opportunities for me, and I promise to keep working hard.”

Prathana’s story is one of thousands made possible by the kindness of Tsering’s Fund sponsors and donors. Your generosity gives girls like her the chance to rise above poverty, stay safe from early marriage and trafficking, and pursue their dreams.

In the mountain village of Melamchi Ghyang, students like Prathana study with enthusiasm and hope—thanks to donors who make quality education possible in rural Nepal.

Before our conversation ended, Prathana had one last message for her sponsor—someone she’s never met but holds close in her heart:

“I want to give her very huge thanks,” she said. “Without her, I couldn’t be where I am today.”

Because of you, Prathana’s prayer for a brighter future is becoming a reality. And with every student who follows in her footsteps, your impact continues to grow—one dream, one classroom, one life at a time.
